CPEI membership connects students, chaplains, supervisor-educators, candidates, affiliates, volunteers, and spiritual care professionals with CPEI’s work in education, credentialing, professional development, and service.

Basic questions about CPEI membership and who it is for.
CPEI membership is a way to stay connected to Clinical Pastoral Education International and its work in education, credentialing, professional development, continuing education, Cadres, resources, and spiritual care community.
Membership may be appropriate for CPEI students, chaplains, supervisor-educators, supervisory candidates, credentialed professionals, volunteers, affiliate representatives, alumni, and others connected to chaplaincy, spiritual care, clinical pastoral education, or professional development.
Membership expectations may depend on a person’s role, credentialing status, faculty status, subscription type, or relationship with CPEI. Students, candidates, faculty, credentialed professionals, and other contacts may have different requirements or access needs.
CPEI’s work includes Education, Credentialing, and Professional Development. Membership helps people stay connected to one or more of these areas through learning opportunities, resources, community, credentials, Cadres, continuing education, and member communication.

CPEI membership dues vary by member type:

CPEI Affiliate dues are $850 annually. Affiliate organizations may have additional application, setup, or affiliation requirements depending on their relationship with CPEI.
Invoices for the fiscal year are sent on October 1 and are due by October 31.
Yes. Reminders for outstanding invoices are sent at 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day intervals while the invoice remains open.
Yes. New members and affiliates onboarding after January 1 pay prorated dues. Proration is calculated monthly, not daily.
People and affiliates with invoices open for more than 90 days may be automatically dropped from the directory on January 1. Members with unpaid dues may also lose access to member benefits, member-only areas, directory listing, or other membership privileges.
Yes. A late fee of 10% of the invoice may be imposed after 120 days.
People and affiliates who have lapsed may reinstate their dues by paying the invoice in full. Credentialed members who have lapsed for more than six months may need to meet with the CEO or a designee for reinstatement to confirm good standing.
Questions about the benefits of CPEI membership.
Benefits may include professional connection, Cadre participation, mentorship and support, professional development discounts, continuing education opportunities, directory recognition, member resources, access to selected publications, and opportunities to engage with CPEI’s education, credentialing, and professional development divisions.
Yes. Members may have access to professional development opportunities, training, workshops, conferences, seminars, Cadres, and continuing education opportunities as they are offered by CPEI or its partners.
Credentialed members who volunteer to serve on credentialing panels may be eligible to earn continuing education credit for that service, according to CPEI’s professional development and credentialing practices.
CPEI membership may include access to selected online publications and professional resources. Available publications and access instructions may vary by membership type or current subscription arrangements.
CPEI may offer opportunities for members to share publications, educational programs, events, or mission-aligned work through approved marketing or partnership channels.
Questions about member-only tools, subscriptions, resources, and community spaces.
Members may access member-only resources through the Members’ Dashboard, Resources area, Community Forum, Subscriptions area, or other member access points provided by CPEI.
The Members’ Dashboard is a member-only area intended to provide access to links, updates, tools, and resources for CPEI members.
The Subscriptions page is used for membership subscriptions, renewals, and related account information. Some membership actions may require login or active member status.
The Community Forum is a member space for connection, conversation, community-building, and engagement with others in the CPEI network.
The Member Directory is being handled separately as a directory page. Directory access, listings, and public visibility may depend on member status, directory settings, and information provided by members.
Questions about membership categories, credentials, faculty roles, and contact types.
Yes. CPEI has different member types based on a person’s role, credentialing status, faculty status, emeritus status, student status, affiliate relationship, or connection to CPEI.
A non-credentialed member may be a student, early-career chaplain, person exploring CPE, prospective credentialing candidate, volunteer, affiliate contact, donor, supporter, or other person connected to CPEI but not currently holding a CPEI credential.
A credentialed member is a person who holds a CPEI credential, such as Associate Clinical Chaplain, Clinical Chaplain, Supervisor-Educator, or Training Supervisor-Educator, depending on their approved credentialing status.
An emeritus member is a retired member category. Emeritus membership may support continued connection, volunteer service, mentorship, and participation in the CPEI community.
Emeritus Faculty is a retired faculty category. It is separate from Emeritus Member status and may reflect preserved faculty connection or privileges according to CPEI’s current policies and practices.
No. CPEI may maintain contact records for affiliate contacts, alumni, board members, donors, partners, prospects, volunteers, staff, vendors, and other non-dues-paying contacts. These contact types help CPEI communicate and organize information but are not the same as membership.
Tags are short labels used in CPEI’s database to help organize records. Tags may identify roles or relationships such as student, active faculty, volunteer, affiliate contact, donor, staff, or credentialing candidate. Tags help with sorting and reporting, but they do not change a person’s membership level.
